Beginning on November 1, 2024, a local logger will be harvesting timber at Schor.
The timber harvest is part of a timber stand improvement, which aims to create a healthier forest.
The harvest is expected to take approximately 3 – 4 weeks. During this time Warbler Way and western portions of the Red Fox Loop will be closed. For your safety, visitors will be asked to use the more eastern trails instead. The Pond Loop, Summit Trail, and portions of the Red Fox Loop will remain open.
Questions? Contact Patrick Knapp, Public Lands Manager, at [email protected].
Why harvest timber? The goals of this project include:
- creating a mix of trees of different species and age
- reducing the impact of white-tailed deer, and
- removing invasive plant species.
