Carole Lindstrom is a New York Times bestselling and award-winning author of literature for young people, including the Caldecott Medal-winning We Are Water Protectors. She is Anishinaabe/Metis and an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibwe. She is honored to write books that allow her to shine a light on her beautiful people and their strength and resilience. Her tribal homelands are in Belcourt, North Dakota, but she was born and raised in Nebraska.

Story Walk with Carole Lindstrom

Let’s take story time outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of spring at High Falls. Renowned author Carole Lindstrom will read her Caldecott Medal-winning We Are Water Protectors as we stroll to the Agawamuck Creek, where we’ll explore the stream with nets and magnifying glasses, looking for the animals that call this creek home. After our adventure, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase books from Kinderhook Books and talk about everything we’ve learned together.
What’s involved: We will be walking up to 0.5 miles along Waterfall Way and the Hemlock Trail. These trails are forested, packed earth paths with some exposed roots. We will be walking down a 14% grade hill to get closer to the stream. Click here to learn more about High Falls.
