Pollinator Meadow Exploration

Join researchers from the Hawthorne Valley Farmscape Ecology Program for an exploration of a pollinator meadow seeded by volunteers in the autumn of 2019 on a former corn field at Overmountain in Ancram. We will discuss which plants were seeded, who are the plants growing in the meadow now, which pollinators visit their flowers, and what have we learned from monitoring the vegetation development and insects in the meadow over the years.

What’s involved: We will walk a short distance from the parking lot to the created pollinator meadow, there will be many stops along the way to look at and discuss the meadow. We will be walking on uneven ground in tall vegetation.

What to bring: Water, sunscreen, bug spray, and weather-appropriate clothing and footwear. Please bring a way to take notes such as a camera, phone, or notebook.

What not to bring: Please, no dogs.
