Land Camp: Forest management, part two

July 13 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

land camp schor forest management

This summer, CLC is hosting a series of programs where participants can learn more about and try land management techniques in a supportive environment so that you can feel comfortable implementing them at home! This series of workshops is ideal for those who are already actively managing their land, those who would like get to started, and those interested in learning more about how CLC manages the properties we care for.

This second workshop at Schor will focus on forest management practices, led by speakers Andrew Szulborski, CLC Public Lands Associate, and Addison Kubik, Education, Outreach, and Volunteer Coordinator of Capital Region PRISM. Attendees will have the opportunity to identify invasive weeds, learn about effective removal strategies, and then put these skills into practice during a removal project at Schor.

What’s involved: Attendees can expect to walk half a mile to three-quarters of a mile over mostly flat terrain with exposed roots. Once at the work site, attendees will assist with removing select plant species. Training will be provided, and each participant will be matched with work that matches their ability and comfort level.

Packing list: Water, gloves, weather-appropriate clothing and footwear, and a way to take notes (notebook or smartphone). Gloves will be available to borrow if needed!

What not to bring: Please, no dogs.

The next Land Camp workshops will focus on wet meadows at Overmountain (October 3, October 12). Click here to view all the events in this series.
