September 8, 2024 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm EDT
group of individuals standing in lush forest for CLC program, used in promotion for how to love a forest walk with Ethan Tapper

What does it mean to love a forest? During this event, author and forester Ethan Tapper will explore this question and discuss actions individuals can take to protect important forest ecosystems. Following a guided walk from 3:00 p.m. til 5:00 p.m., participants will have the opportunity to join the author for a book signing and reading. Prefer to come to only the book signing? Please plan to arrive after 5:00 p.m.

Ethan Tapper is a forester and the author of the recently published book, How to Love a ForestInspired by his career as a Chittenden County Forester and care for his 175-acre conserved homestead, the book walks readers through the fragile and resilient community that is a forest and helps us reimagine what forests are and what it means to care for them.

Interested in purchasing a copy of your own? Learn more about the book and purchase it here.

What’s involved: We will walk about three-quarters of a mile over mostly flat terrain with exposed roots, stopping often to experience the forest around us.

What to bring: Water, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing and footwear, and a way to take notes (i.e. camera, smartphone, or a journal). Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome to attend. Please bring a bag for waste.

We are proud to offer this program for free to the public with a suggested five-dollar donation. This gift will allow CLC to continue offering programs like these at no cost and support land conservation work.
