Join the Columbia Land Conservancy to discuss how conservation intersects with bird conservation, affordable farmland, and community forests
The Columbia Land Conservancy (CLC) is excited to announce the return of Community Conversations, a thought-provoking series of free Zoom events aimed at fostering open sharing about issues impacting our communities. Community Conversations is an initiative born out of CLC’s commitment to promoting education, awareness, and community engagement in environmental conservation. The series brings together local leaders, conservationists, and community members to discuss topics of local importance.
Each Community Conversation includes:
- Learning from local leaders: Each event will feature speakers sharing their insights on how conservation plays a role in topics like affordable farmland and bird conservation
- Questions and answers: Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences.
- Networking opportunities: Attendees will have the chance to connect with each other and local leaders and learn more about how they can take action.
“It’s very exciting to bring this series back for the third year,” says Mallory Schultz, Communications & Outreach Coordinator. “Our goal is to create a comfortable space for people to come together, learn from one another, and explore solutions to the challenges our communities are facing.”
The first event in the Community Conversations series is scheduled for December 16 at 6:30 p.m. CLC is excited to welcome Ben Nickley, Executive Director of Berkshire Bird Observatory, and CLC Vice President of Conservation Heidi Bock to discuss how bird conservation and land management practices at sites like Ooms inform and support one another.
January’s Conversation on the 8th will feature a discussion about affordable farmland with Finegan Ferreboeuf and Jason Gold of Steelbow Farm and CLC Director of Land Protection & Stewardship Terence Duvall.
February’s Conversation on the 19th will feature a discussion about the founding of the Taghkanic Community Forest with Betsy Albert and Tim Kennelty, chair and member of the Taghkanic Community Forest Committee, and CLC Director of Public Lands Patrick Knapp.
