Volunteers honored at celebration
Caring for the land we love takes the whole community! The Columbia Land Conservancy recently celebrated the efforts of several exemplary volunteers during the 2025 volunteer season.
“This season, volunteers gave over a thousand hours of their time to care for the land,” says Mallory Schultz, Communications & Outreach Coordinator. “We’re thrilled to celebrate these folks and the entire volunteer team!”
“CLC’s public lands are better places to get outside and enjoy nature thanks to these dedicated volunteers,” says Patrick Knapp, Director of Public Lands. “We achieved so much this season, planting thousands of trees, removing tons of invasives, and keeping loved trails open and accessible.”
Awards included:
- Solo Superstars – Kelly & Roger Spring for their dedicated work independently volunteering both in the office and on the trails
- Swiss Army Knife – Kevin Johnson for his stellar attendance at volunteer work parties and for always bringing his handy tool cart
- Terrific Teens – The Kite’s Nest ReGen Teens for caring for the trails throughout the year, tending the pollinator patch at Greenport and removing water chestnut at Ooms
- Top Tree Planters – The Skoda Family for planting over two hundred trees this May at the Taghkanic Community Forest
- Harris Hero – Gregor Simon-MacDonald for his many hours tending the trails at Harris, ensuring this site is well cared for and enjoyable for all who visit
